From Mark 14, 15
Center for Liturgy at St. Louis University
A woman came with an alabaster jar of perfumed oil, costly genuine spikenard. She broke the alabaster jar and poured it on his head.
She did what her heart commanded her to do.
Broke the jar. Poured out all she had.
Holding nothing back. She was
announcing God’s own
poured-out love
that was to
come.
Jesus
did not shield his face from pounding and spitting,
did not answer when they covered his eyes
and hissed, “Who struck you?’’
No, he humbled himself,
emptied himself.
For he so
loved
us.
